All sorts of rumours were doing the rounds about Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha’s romantic drama Kushi, ever since the latter was on a break from work owing to an illness. While film buffs were relieved to know about Samantha’s return to the film’s set earlier this month, the makers surprised them with the announcement of its release date today.
Kushi will hit screens across the globe on September 1 this year. A new poster from the romance has Vijay Deverakonda dressed like a corporate employee, carrying his lunch box, while he extends his hand to Samantha, who’s holding a dog. The backdrops of both the characters are different - snow-capped mountains and a middle-class household.
The film, produced by Y Ravi Shankar and Naveen Yerneni under Mythri Movie Makers, is a feel-good romance whose shoot began in exotic landscapes of Jammu and Kashmir and select locations in Hyderabad in 2022. In a recent interview, director Shiva Niravana said, “Kushi is a simple boy-meets-girl romance that’ll make for a pleasant viewing at the theatres.”

Samantha, sharing the release date, while tagging her co-star and the director tweeted, “Whole heart #Kushi” while Vijay Deverakonda wrote, “#Kushi Sept 1st. With full love, @Samanthaprabhu2, @ShivaNirvana, @MythriOfficial, @HeshamAWMusic and your man.” The romance is also the Telugu debut of Hridayam composer Hesham Abdul Wahab.
Prawin Pudi is the editor of the film while Jayashri Laxminarayanan is the production designer. G Murali cranks the camera for the same and Utthar Kumar, Chandrika too handle art direction duties. Peter Heins choreographs the stunts and Rajesh, Harman Kaur and Pallavi Singh are the costume designers. Naresh Babu P provides writing assistance to Shiva Nirvana, also the dialogue writer.
