Kushi completes a week at the box office, occupancy drops, makers looking at losses

Kushi is Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu's latest release which hit the screens on September 1, 2023. Shiva Nirvana, who last made Tuck Jagadish with Nani has directed this film which is a family drama. The makers of Allu Arjun's Pushpa, Mythri Movie Makers are the production house behind this film which has now completed a week at the box office. 

As per the latest update, Kushi has made Rs 39 crore share across the globe after its first week of run. As we said earlier, the occupancy fell heavily due to the consistent rains in Telugu states during this week and played spoilsport to the film's run.

The theatrical rights of the film have been locked at Rs 56 crores and by the looks of it, Kushi will end up in losses. Seeing the current scenario, the makers will lose close to Rs 12 crores by the end of the film's run. In the US, the film is performing a bit better when compared to India.

Kushi started on a very strong note and the first weekend collections were impressive. But suddenly, things slowed down and the film is struggling at the moment. Adding to this, the release of big films like Jawan and Miss Shetty Mr. Polishetty which released on September 7, 2023, has created a massive impact on the collections of Kushi. Both these films have started with impressive word of mouth hereby creating a solid competition to Kushi.

On the other hand, Netflix has grabbed the OTT rights and Kushi will have its digital premiere by the end of this month or in the first week of October as per the news. The makers have made a handsome amount through the OTT rights of this film. 

Vijay Deverakonda has moved on to his new film which is being directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri. The film's shoot is happening in Hyderabad as of now and Vijay is shooting for his intro shoot. Well, in the days to come, we need to see how much will Kushi make at the box office.
