Krithi Shetty is one of the most prolific actors in the current generation. Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali, that hit theatres on September 16, was her sixth release in 18 months and she has already been labelled the next big thing in Telugu cinema. Despite mixed reviews for her film, Krithi’s performance drew praise from several corners. The film was directed by Mohana Krishna Indraganti.

“My role in Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali is closer to real life and that explains why audiences liked it. Many called me to tell that it was like watching themselves on the big screen. What else do I need as an actress? I thank Indraganti garu for giving me such an author-backed role. The appreciation for the film means a lot to me,” Krithi Shetty shared.

The budding actress mentioned that she always does considerable homework for her roles. “I write all the key details about my part and it helps me perform better. Whenever I enter a set, I enact a scene as if it’s happening in my life and the expressions come out naturally. This film was no different,” she stated. Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali is also the first time she took up a double role.

She admits of being overjoyed when the chance to do a double role came her way so early. “Akhila struck a chord with many viewers and I was very satisfied as a performer. I always wanted to be a doctor and became an actor by chance while I was noticed during an ad-shoot in Hyderabad. I consider myself very lucky to be offered a wide variety of roles. I’ll work hard to sustain this momentum.”

Krithi worked for over 70 days for Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali and she labels Indraganti a cool director who comes to the set with a fresh mind every day. “He enjoys his work and I got to learn a lot from him. He and Sudheer Babu have greater chemistry than I and Sudheer (laugh) - such is their understanding. There’s great energy on the sets when they are together. Sudheer was a very helpful co-star.”

Her parents apparently had high words of praise for her performance and she calls them a constant source of support. On the work front, she is working on films with Naga Chaitanya and Surya. A few other projects will be announced shortly, Krithi said.
