It’s been 3 months since Golden Star Ganesh’s romantic comedy Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi released. The Srinivas Raju directorial had a fantabulous theatrical run, following which its satellite and digital rights were picked up. It was expected that the film would be made available to stream after the 50-day success meet. However, more than a month later, there’s no word on the film’s OTT release, as it continues to hold a couple of shows in Bengaluru multiplexes.
The latest buzz about Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi is that it will not be on satellite or digital in 2024. Given that Sun Network picked up the TV and streaming rights, it is now heard that Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi will get a festive TV premiere on Udaya TV, following which it will make its way to Sun NXT. The film will, apparently, be the big Sankranti offering in January 2025. Sankranti falls on January 14 next year. The film is currently inching closer to the 100-day mark.
Closer to the 50-day theatrical mark of Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi, the film team had released full videos of all its hit songs, which was seen as a sure-shot sign that the OTT release was nigh. However, that was not the case and official word on when it will be available is still expected. The film, which paired Ganesh with Malavika Nair, owes much of its success to music man Arjun Janya, whose magical score is, undoubtedly, among the best this year.
Songs like Dwapara, Chinnamma and My Marriage is Fixed, among others, were runaway hits. The film opened to mixed reviews, with some appreciative of the return of ‘vintage Ganesh’, while others felt that the actor had nothing new to offer. In terms of story, Srinivas Raju did not present anything novel, but given that 2024 did not have any theatrical hits until Bheema, which released a week ahead of Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi and that there was a severe dearth of family entertainers, Ganesh’s film caught the attention of audiences.
