The official announcement of Golden Star Ganesh’s hit rom-com Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi’s OTT release has come. OTTplay had earlier reported that director Srinivas Raju’s film had been picked up by Sun Network for the digital and satellite rights, with streaming on Sun NXT and TV premiere on Udaya TV. It was speculated that the film would be given a festival TV premiere for maximum effect, followed by the OTT outing. Sankranti was what everyone thought it would be.

But recently, when the film officially completed 100-days at the box office with one single show in Sirsi, Karnataka, long after the theatrical run had ended even in Bengaluru, it was said that the OTT release would happen shortly, And that turned out to be true. A little while ago, Sun Network announced that Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi would be available to stream on Sun NXT from November 29.

Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi was Ganesh’s first collaboration with Dandupalya maker Srinivasa Raju and the director’s maiden attempt at a romantic comedy. In terms of story, the film did not offer anything novel, but given that the Kannada film industry did not have any star-led family entertainer and was in a slump, Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi came like a breath of fresh air and captured the imagination of audiences, largely due to its very popular music. In fact, director Srinivasa Raju had chosen not to reveal a trailer before the movie hits theatres and released only the music, with all of the songs by Arjun Janya becoming runaway hits.

The film, meanwhile, followed Ganesh as Krishna, a high-flying businessman, who falls for Pranaya (Malavika) an orphan running an orphanage. Worried that she may spurn his advances owing to their differing socio-economic status, Krishna works for Pranaya as a driver and wins her over. After they get married, though, something happens, and Krishna loses his short-term memory, including his days with Pranaya. Can Pranaya jolt his memories, or will he be lost to her forever – that’s what the film is all about.
