Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi, the romantic comedy directed by Srinivasa Raju, gave Golden Star Ganesh a much-needed hit. The film, which was released on August 15, was lapped up by family audiences, solely on the strength of its music and positive word-of-mouth publicity, given that no teaser or trailer was dropped before Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi came out. Last week, the film finally ended its theatrical run.
Although the team has never spoken about the film’s budget or its official box office collections, trade trackers estimate that the film has made in the vicinity of Rs 22 cr from its domestic theatrical run. Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi was released in Kannada only. The film’s good showing also meant that the makers were able to seal a satellite and digital deal with Sun Network.
Last week it was heard that Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi’s OTT debut would only be in January 2025, following the film’s TV premiere on Udaya TV for Sankranti. That, though, is still a good 2 months away, and now that it is no longer in theatres, there are rumors that the OTT release could be advanced. It will, however, only be after the TV outing.
Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi is the love story of Krishna and Pranaya, played by Ganesh and Malavika Nair, respectively. He is a rich entrepreneur, and she is an orphan running an orphanage. He hides his socio-economic status and works for her as a driver while trying to woo her, revealing his true identity only much later. They get married, and all seems good, until, a business rival who holds a torch for Krishna, seeks revenge for spurning her.
Krishna ends up with short-term amnesia, with no memory of his time with Pranaya. Can she make him remember her or will Krishna end up with someone else? That's what the film is all about.
