Kranti Twitter review: Routine story with message; it’s time Darshan works on different scripts, say netizens

Challenging Star Darshans much awaited Kranti released in theatres today. The film is his second collaboration with producers Shylaja Nag ad B Suresha and director V Harikrishna. Announced initially as a pan-India film, Kranti was eventually released with its Kannada version only, with no word on if and when the makers will give the other language versions theatrical outings.

For fans of the actor, Kranti was a much-awaited project, his first release since 2021’s Roberrt, but the film also had a lot riding on it, as it was to be the movie that shows Darshan’s star power in drawing crowds to movie halls, given that he had not promoted it with mainstream media.

Although the first teaser and subsequent trailer did not instil much confidence in the content, there was still hope that Harikrishna could spin it around and present an entertaining commercial film after all. But if the buzz on social media is anything to go by, audiences, especially fans, have been left mighty disappointed by the film. The trouble with social media, though, is that it is difficult to gauge whether these are genuine reviews of people who’ve seen the film, or if they are driven by the ongoing fan wars between Darshan and Puneeth Rajkumar factions. A lot of tweets with #KrantiDisaster appear to be from handles of Puneeth and even Sudeep fans.
