​Kottukkaali: Soori and Anna Ben seen in a rustic avatar in the first-look teaser of Sivakarthikeyan's next production

​ivakarthikeyan is all set to bankroll his Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam and Rajini Murugan co-star Soori's next. The Maaveeran actor made the announcement on his social media handle this morning and announced the film's title as Kottukkaali. He also revealed that the film will star popular Malayalam actress Anna Ben and that Koozhangal director PS Vinothraj will be directing it.

Now, the actor has dropped the first-look teaser of the film. Anna Ben is seen completely lost and sitting inside an autorickshaw, even as someone tries to jolt her awake from her reverie and asks her to get down. There is also a rooster perched on the seat of the vehicle. Meanwhile, Soori is intensely gazing at something while he puffs away. In the beginning of the video, we see someone ringing a bunch of bells tied up.

Taking to his social media handle, Sivakarthikeyan wrote, "We proudly present the first look tease of #Kottukkaali. Written & directed by @PsVinothraj Starring @sooriofficial & @benanna_love @KalaiArasu_ @SKProdOffl @sakthidreamer @thecutsmaker (sic)."

The first-look teaser has created a lot of buzz on social media and fans are stating that the story might be quite different from Soori and Anna Ben's projects so far. PS Vinothraj had earlier made the award-winning film Koozhangal, which won the Tiger Award at the 50th International Film Festival Rotterdam. The film was also selected as India's official entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 94th Academy Awards.

In the meantime, Soori is eagerly awaiting the release of his much-awaited film with director Vetri Maaran, Viduthalai. The actor plays an earnest constable in the film. The trailer of the film was launched recently and Soori's character has won many hearts. Vijay Sethupathi is said to be playing a fugitive in the film. It looks like the film might explore police brutality and social discrimination, too.
