Nobody makes investigative thrillers better than Jeethu Joseph in Malayalam right now. The filmmaker, who is behind Drishyam and Memories, has teamed up with Asif Ali for his latest outing Kooman and the team on Wednesday revealed its first look poster.
The poster had Asif Ali’s character flashing a torch light in a rain-drenched night. Scripted by KR Krishna Kumar, who had earlier worked with Jeethu in Mohanlal’s direct-to-OTT release 12th Man, the movie is touted to be an investigative thriller that has Asif playing the role of a police constable.
In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Asif had said that the film is a thriller that also has an investigative element attached to it. The actor, however, was quick to clarify that it is different from previous Jeethu Joseph directorials as this is set against the backdrop of a village that lies on the border of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. “The incidents that happen in the constable’s life and its consequences make the plot,” said the actor.
Asif also explained how working with Jeethu in the movie was a totally different experience for him. The Kotthu actor praised the filmmaker’s disciplined way of going about business, having worked in several industries such as Bollywood, Tamil and recently in Tollywood for the Telugu remake of Drishyam 2.
“He has t experience of handling movies that have huge production value. It’s also the first time I am working on such a movie. The shoot was systematic and the way of functioning of the technical department too was advanced in a way,” said Asif.
Further on the film, he said that its greatest strength is its script. The core story is framed by Krishna Kumar and investigative elements are added by Jeethu, said Asif. “When you see the movie, you would wonder if this man is actually a criminal,” quips the actor.
