The first look of Koogle Kuttapa, starring veteran filmmaker KS Ravikumar in lead role, was released by Suriya on his social media page. The film, which is the remake of Malayalam movie Android Kunjappan Ver 5.25, is produced by Ravikumar himself and is directed by his long time associates Sabari and Saravanan. The project, which has Bigg Boss Tamil fame Tharshan Thiyagarajah and Losliya Mariyanesan, too, essaying prominent roles, apart from Yogi Babu and Manobala, was initially titled Google Kuttappan

The first look has Ravikumar, Tharshan, Losliya and Yogi Babu posing for a selfie along with an android robot. Later, the makers released a poster which featured Ravikumar and the robot. Suriya, who released the first look, tweeted, "Here’s the first look of #KoogleKuttapa my wishes to one of the coolest and respected @ksravikumardir sir." The actor had played the lead in Ravikumar's direction in the 2009 film Aadhavan, which was a commercial success.

The character Ravikumar essays in Tamil was portrayed by National Award-winning actor Suraj Venjaramoodu in its Malayalam version. The latter received appreciation from several quarters for his performance. Actor-turned-director Soubin Shahir was also seen in a pivotal role in Android Kunjappan Ver 5.25. Sabari and Saravanan, who immensely liked the Malayalam film, approached Ravikumar with the idea of making the movie in Tamil and the latter purchased the rights immediately. The director-duo, we hear, has tweaked the Kollywood version to suit the nativity of Tamil audience.

Koogle Kuttapa, which is shot extensively in Tenkasi and Kuttralam, has some portions left to be shot abroad. The movie is Ravikumar's second production venture; the first film he produced was Tenali which he made with Kamal Haasan, Jayaram, Jyotika and Devayani two decades ago. Ghibran will compose music for the movie which has loads of CG shots as one of its attractions.
