Kondaa release date: When and where to watch the Ram Gopal Varma directorial starring Thrigun, Irra Mor

Kondaa, a biopic based on controversial political leader Konda Murali and his better half Konda Surekha, helmed by Ram Gopal Varma, is all set to hit theatres on June 23. Thrigun and Irra Mor are cast as the real-life couple in the film produced by Konda Sushmitha Patel under Apple Tree and RGV Production. The film is presented under Shrestha Patel Movies.

While announcing the film’s release date, the team released the second trailer earlier this week. Referencing a Karl Marx quote about extraordinary leaders being born out of extraordinary situations, the trailer takes the viewer through many dramatic situations in the life of the political couple - from their love life to their fight for the underprivileged and dealing with bitter faction wars.

Talking about the film, Ram Gopal Varma shares, “I have made films on the faction wars in Vijayawada and Rayalaseema but I’m not aware of the situation in Telangana as much. I researched a lot about Konda Murali and approached their family to do a film on him. They readily agreed and his daughter Sushmitha Patel even came forward to produce. I couldn’t have asked for more.”

Reportedly Thrigun could never imagine himself doing a hard-hitting biopic like Kondaa. “When RGV approached me for the film and narrated the script, he told me that he considers it a responsibility to record chapters in history that no one has dared to take up in the past. Genelia had always told me to take up action films to make progress in my career, I’m fulfilling her wish now,” he said.

Prudhviraj, Parvathi Arun, Tulasi, LB Sriram, Ram Prasad and others too play important roles in Kondaa. Bharath Kumar has penned the dialogues for the film which has music by DSR. Manish Thakur and Eshwar are the editors for the saga cinematographed by Malharbhatt Joshi. Chandra Bose, Raju Nallabelli, Nalgonda Gaddar and Ranjith Kumar Rick have penned the lyrics.
