Vijay Antony's long-delayed Kolai is finally gearing up to hit screens on July 21. The film is all set to be cleared by the Censor Board today. Taking to his social media handle, producer Dhananjayan G gave the first review of the film. He wrote, "#Kolai final copy watched & locked last night. My best critic at home @lalithagd after watching said - “An engaging & intelligent crime thriller with awesome BGM & stylish making.” Film is going out for censor today. Releasing on 21st July. Waiting for your verdict that day (sic)."

The plot, we hear, revolves around the mysterious death of Leila, a model with a huge fan following and how the detective roped in to solve the case, clears the air around the sensational murder. Vijay Antony plays the detective, who strongly believes that there is no such thing called a perfect murder and that every murder has a flaw.

The film is helmed by Balaji K Kumar. The star cast includes Vijay Antony, Radikaa Sarathkumar, Ritika Singh, Meenakshi Chaudhry, Murali Sharma, Siddhartha Kumar, to name a few.

While Girishh Gopalakrishnan has scored the music, Sivakumar Vijayan has handled the cinematography and Selva RK is in charge of editing. The team had earlier released the remix of the popular song from Pudhiya Paravai, Paartha Nyabagam Illaiyo, which has been sung by Shreya Ghoshal.

 The art direction is by K Aarusamy and action choreography is by Mahesh Mathew. The film is all set to be released in Telugu as well and the Telugu version is titled Hatya.


The project is bankrolled by Infiniti Film Ventures and Lotus Pictures. Vijay Antony was last seen in the long-delayed Tamilarasan and Pichaikkaran 2. However, both films opened to mixed reviews and met with a lukewarm response at the box office. Hence, expectations are riding high on the film.
