Vijay Antony's long-delayed murder mystery Kolai, helmed by Balaji K Kumar, is all set to release on July 21 in theatres worldwide. The film is billed as a crime thriller, which revolves around a sensational murder. Here's all you need to know about the Vijay Antony-starrer.
An impressive trailer
The team of Kolai dropped two trailers to pique the curiosity of the audience, and both seem to have impressed the audience. The trailers reveal an almost perfectly executed crime that leaves no clue to the investigation team, until Vijay Antony's character comes into the picture.
A plot to keep you hooked
The story revolves around the mysterious death of Laila (Meenakshi Chaudhary), a model who has a fan following across the country. When the sensational murder case becomes too difficult to crack, detective Vinayak (Vijay Antony), who has successfully solved over 200 complicated cases, is roped in. Assisting him in the investigation is Sandhya (Ritika Singh).

Every time Vijay Antony has played characters with a tinge of mystery in them, the film has been received well, e.g. Salim, Naan or Pichaikkaran. In Kolai, Vinayak believes that there is no such thing called a perfect murder and actively looks for the loopholes.

Girishh Gopalakrishnan's music
Shreya Ghoshal has sung a new version of the iconic number, Paartha Nyabagam from the film, Pudhiya Paravai, which has already become a hit. The vibes of the song and the BGM add to the intriguing element.
The stunning cinematography
Kolai has some breathtaking visuals, courtesy cinematographer Sivakumar Vijayan, who has captured some beautiful frames on his camera. So, the film is expected to be a visual treat.
A July 2023 Release
The film, which has been lying in the cans for a while now, is all set to hit screens in July 2023. The Tamil Nadu theatrical rights of Vijay Antony's Kolai have been bagged by Sakthi Film Factory. Since, Vijay Antony's last two releases, Tamilarasan and Pichaikkaran 2 didn't rake in the moolah, a lot is riding on the film.
