Actress Harleen Sethi, who will next be seen in Netflix’s upcoming crime thriller web series Kohrra, says that the show took her back to a place in life that she was running away from for a long time. And that, according to Harleen, led to a huge emotional and spiritual transformation in her.
Taking her social media, the actress shared how being a Punjabi who is born and brought up in Mumbai, always ran away from her Punjabi root as a kid and eventually attended the workshop as part of the preparation to understand her character Nimrat for the show Kohrra, she decided to get a tattoo with permission from one of the creators of the show Sudip Sharma.
In the note, she wrote, “Nimrat is a part of me. As a Mumbai ki mulgi, I never quite took to my Punjabi roots, rather always ran away from it as a kid. I had a cosmopolitan attitude as someone born & brought up in this city that was considered cooler, but as they say, it’s never too late, Kohrra was a push in this direction.”
Adding to that, she said, “Before we started filming, after one of the workshops I asked Sudip sir if I could get Nirbhau Nirvair engraved on my hand in Gurmukhi. I now wanted something I ran away from to become eternal and go with me to my grave.”
According to Harleen, she feels proud of who she is and where she comes from. “I intend to start right from my roots to go right up,” said the actress, who is known for delivering some of the finest performances in shows like Gone Game Season 2, Broken But Beautiful and Kathmandu Connection.
Created by Gunjit Chopra, Sudip Sharma and Diggi Sisodia, Kohrra also stars Barun Sobti, Suvinder Vicky, Varun Badola and Manish Chaudhari, among others.
The crime thriller simply shows how complex relationships can be in real life.
The story is about the death of an NRI and the impact of grief, mutual suspicion and hidden secrets of the characters involved in the drama. Set in the heart of Punjab, the show is steeped in suspense. It follows dual storylines of hunting down a killer and navigating love and relationships. Kohrra is releasing on Netflix on July 15.
