Koffee With Karan season 8: Did you know that Deepika Padukone's mother DID NOT accept Ranveer Singh initially?

After the long wait, the much-awaited chat show ‘Koffee With Karan’ finally aired this week. And, oh boy, what an episode it was! As soon as the show’s makers announced the latest season,everyone was excited because the upcoming season would be packed with gossip and many ‘andar ki baat’ about celebrities. Adding to the excitement of the show was the first promo. The icing on the cake, however, were the first guests on the show: Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. With them being the first guests to grace the ‘koffee kouch’ confirmed that Shah Rukh Khan would not be on the first episode.

Coming back to the episode with Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, as soon as the episode’s teaser was released, everyone was going gaga over the off-screen chemistry between Bollywood’s power couple. And every minute of the said episode was worth the wait. The episode also saw many revelations and scoops that kept the show’s host, Karan Johar, and audiences happy. In one such revelation, Deepika said that her mother did not like Ranveer initially.

The couple revealed (read ‘confessed’) that Ranveer had taken Deepika to a far-off island to propose to her. Even though Deepika accepted Ranveer's proposal, she did not know how to break the news to her parents. After having waited for the right time and occasion, Deepika told her parents and sister at a dinner party in Bengaluru.

In his unmistakable style, Ranveer told Karan that after Deepika told her parents about the proposal, there was an awkward silence that was followed by a cold and stern reaction from her mother, Ujjala Padukone. And when they all reached Deepika's house in Bengaluru, Ranveer could hear Deepika and her mother having a massive showdown. Ranveer revealed that after that, it took some time for Deepika’s mother to accept him.
