The tenth episode of the popular celebrity chat show Koffee with Karan is rolling out its eighth season with humorous yet insightful chats throughout the episodes. The tenth episode featured the royal mother-son duo of the Pataudi family – where one is a bonfide cinema legend Sharmila Tagore and another is her talented Nawab Saif Ali Khan gracing the couch.

Sharmila Tagore’s unwavering support for Saif
This was probably the first time the duo gathered for any interview together. Although Saif complained quite a few times about being shut up by his mother during the candid conversations with Karan Johar, there were also moments when Saif Ali Khan revealed that his bonding with ‘Amma’ is just unmatched and he shares his happy and troubled moments with her without the fear of judgment. From career support to parenting, this super mom did it all while juggling both, her film career and family life.

If we had to choose only one moment, this would be the one! Marriage crisis
One of the surprising and emotional moments was when the host Karan Johar asked Sharmila Tagore ji about her reaction when the Kurbaan actor married his first wife Amrita Singh without telling anyone. His mother acknowledged that she liked his ex-wife when she first met him but was quite shocked. However, Saif’s version is a little different where he revealed that Tagore shed a tear when she learned he married in silence and said, “I am hurt.”
Speaking about marrying early, the actor said, "You know, it was kind of like running away from home, in a sense. There were so many things going on, and I found a kind of security and an idea that this was safe. And it feels great. I thought, you know, I could make a home out of that." Although things didn’t work out between Saif and Amrita but they shared two children, Ibraham and Sara Ali Khan, and co-parent them.
Royal family moments
There were several key moments like the family visits when Kareena Kapoor Khan lays the dinner table for her beloved ‘Amma’ to the one where Saif broke the glass door and emerged unscathed with glass shards strewn all over the place. Saif’s sister also spilled that it is the Nawab son who is the apple of his mother’s eye or as the Aradhana actress quotes it, “Putra Moh” (son’s attachment).
