Koffee With Karan 7: Alia Bhatt discusses her love story with Ranbir Kapoor, from blossoming romance to surprise proposal

Alia Bhatt spilled the beans on director Karan Johar's popular chat show, Koffee With Karan, season 7, revealing her and Ranbir Kapoor's hush-hush proposal when the now husband and wife took a New Year's flight together to Israel.

When Karan Johar claimed that Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt's upcoming movie, Brahmastra, was the "product" of their love story, the actor, who dressed attractively in pink, stated that if they did not board the plane to Tel Aviv, Israel, on New Year's Day, it was not meant to happen. Although her friends had assured her that Ranbir and she were certainly going to get together, Alia revealed that she preferred the relationship to develop naturally.

The actor revealed on Koffee With Karan 7 that on the plane to Tel Aviv for a workshop on Brahmastra, Ranbir and she discussed it. Alia could still picture him coming in and being seated next to her. He sat down next to her and they were going to transfer him to another seat because his seat had become stuck and was acting up. And she thought that her dreams were being shattered. But after it was fixed, he returned and sat down. 

Alia then said that when they exchanged notes, before stating that Ranbir was displeased that the seat had to break down at that moment, even though they were placed "nicely" together.

With an endearing smile, the recently wed Alia continued that the chemistry between Ranbir and her started from there alone, adding that the rest was history. 

Blushing on the show, Alia further stated how Ranbir had planned to propose to the Raazi actor in a location where they had a strong connection, which completely blew her mind. Alia and Ranbir concurred that they should just go with the emotion.

She revealed that RK did act in that manner, and that he carried the ring alone, without telling anyone, and in the most spectacular location because Masai Mara is a place to which they both have a profound connection. The fact that it was in the middle of a jungle was incredible to her.

However, Alia received the surprise of her life following the proposal when Ranbir managed to shoot images, especially taking into account Alia's love for photography. What she didn't anticipate was that he had also scheduled our tour guide to snap the photos. So when it was all over, she was still processing the shock and was really emotional. She asked him how he managed to snap photos after he took a few pictures, since he was aware of her love for photographs. Alia said with a smile that it was too unique.

On April 14 of this year, Alia and Ranbir got hitched. Soon after, Alia shared the joyous news of her pregnancy on Instagram.
