Premam actor Krishna Sankar’s Kochaal is finally gearing up to drop on an OTT platform after almost six months since it hit theatres in June 2022. The movie, starring Krishna Sankar, Murali Gopy, Shine Tom Chacko and Vijayaraghavan, was helmed by debutant Shyam Mohan and was written by Midhun-Prajith duo.
The thriller revolves around Sreekuttan aka Kochaal, who is mocked for his height (of lack thereof). From his childhood, his parents have told him that he is destined to join the police force. However, his physical stature comes in the way of accomplishing that goal. While he does make it to the force after a series of hurdles and on compassionate grounds, a new challenge awaits him in the form of a double homicide. How he solves the case that will define his career henceforth forms the plot.
Murali Gopy essays the role of Sreekuttan’s senior officer Simon Thomas Irumban, while Shine, Indrans, Renji Panicker and Vijayaraghavan play supporting roles in the movie, which is slated to drop on ZEE5 on November 18. Kochaal has cinematographer Jomon Thomas, editor Bijish Balakrishnan and composer Manikandan Ayyappa as part of its crew.
While Krishna Sankar essays the role of a constable, Shine will be seen playing a butcher. Srikanth Murali and Sharafudheen are also part of the film, which went on floors in December 2021.
This is the platform’s second Malayalam release this month after Suresh Gopi’s Mei Hoom Moosa dropped in the first week of November. The platform has also acquired the streaming rights for Arjun Ashokan’s Thattassery Koottam, which is set to drop on OTT next month.
Meanwhile, Krishna Sankar will next be seen in Alphonse Puthren’s comeback directorial Gold, which has Prithviraj Sukumaran and Nayanthara as part of the cast. The movie, which is also written by Alphonse, is expected to hit theatres on December 2.
