Kit Harington has become eponymous with his character of Jon Snow, after his performance as the somber young man on HBO’s wildly popular Game of Thrones earned him international fame and recognition. But it seems that after over a decade of emulating the character on screen, the English actor is more than ready to leave his character behind and explore new horizons, such as his recent role in the second season of the anthology show, Modern Love.

In an interview with PTI, Harington opened up about his old roles and new ones, saying that after Game of Thrones, he was looking forward to taking up ‘lighter’ roles that are not very time-consuming, such as the one he did in Modern Love. He talked about how as Jon Snow whom he called the ‘least comic character on TV’, he never had the opportunity to tap into his humorous side. The new anthology show, however, brought him some much needed lightness and humour, which the actor says he found refreshing. On his future plans, he said that he had no definite plans as yet, and added that he would just look for roles which he found interesting and those which had good writing.

Kit Harington had previously opened up about his mental health struggles while serving on Game of Thrones, even mentioning that he had to seek professional help to combat the same.

He referred to the work he did on Modern Love as ‘satisfying’ saying that the condensed and intimate way of shooting really helped him focus completely on the story. He also talked about how he is striving to incorporate more variety into the roles he took up after portraying a single character onscreen for almost 10 years, and his love for anthologies. He had previously starred on an episode of Criminal UK as well.
