Bollywood Salman Khan's latest movie Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan failed to live up to the expectations in terms of its box office performance. And it joined the growing list of south remakes that failed to impress movie patrons in the Hindi belt.
Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan is now getting ready to make its debut on Zee5. According to the buzz, the movie will become available for streaming on May 26. An official confirmation on the same is, however, awaited.
Written and directed by Farhad Samji, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan is the remake of the Tamil hit Veeram. The movie was released in cinemas on April 21 to cash in on the Eid holiday. The movie performed well in the mass centres as opposed to the multiplexes. However, it fell short of creating a box office tsunami akin to superstar Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan.
Since last year, several Hindi remakes of South blockbusters have failed to click at the Hindi box office . Before Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, Hrithik Roshan-starrer Vikram Vedha, Kartik Aaryan-starrer Shehzada, Akshay Kumar's Selfiee and Ajay Devgan's Bholaa all tanked at the box office. The recent trend has many wondering whether it's the end of the road for south remakes at the Hindi box office. With the easy availability of movies from across the country on OTT platforms along with sub-titles, the movie buffs seem to be consuming all content in their original languages undercutting the box office potential of the remakes.
In Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, Salman has reprised the role that was originally played by Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar. It follows one man's fight to protect the family of his girlfriend from a vengeful killer. The Tamil original was written and directed by Siva.
Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan also stars Pooja Hegde, Venkatesh and Jagapathi Babu.
