During promotions for King of Kotha, actor Dulquer Salmaan revealed in an interview with a media outlet that he is inspired by actor Suriya's film choices.
"Even before I entered the industry, I was inspired by his choices of films. He could have easily picked movies which amplify his stardom. But instead of that he chose to tell genuine stories through this art. As a human being also, I have deep respect for him", Dulquer said to SS Music while speaking about his equation with Suriya.
Earlier, Suriya visited the family of the late Malayalam director Siddique in Dulquer's car and the visuals of the same went viral, strengthening the speculations about their growing camaraderie.

The King of Kotha actor is also rumoured to share the screen with Suriya in Sudha Kongara's untitled project. The film, which is currently referred to as Suriya 43, is touted to be a gangster thriller. Dulquer was asked about being part of Suriya's film during promotions for King of Kotha, but he chose not to comment on the rumours and simply acknowledged them with a smile.
King of Kotha is the upcoming pan-Indian film in which Dulquer Salmaan will essay the role of a gangster. The film is an actioner that also deals with themes of friendship, romance, family relationships, vengeance, and betrayal. The movie promises to take the audience on an emotional rollercoaster ride while also delivering action-packed scenes. Three pre-release events were held at Hyderabad, Chennai, and Kochi as part of the promotions of the film. King of Kotha is said to be the first Malayalam film that has had such extensive promotions across the country. Reportedly, It is also the widest release a Malayalam film has had to date within and outside the country.
King of Kotha, directed by Abhilash Joshiy and written by Abhilash N Chandran, is produced by Dulquer's Wayfarer Films and Zee Studios. The film will hit theatres worldwide on August 24.
