King of Kotha star Dulquer Salmaan reveals his heartwarming love story with wife Amaal Sufiya

Malayalam star Dulquer Salmaan, recently shared the heartwarming tale of how he met and fell in love with his wife, Amaal Sufiya. In a candid interview, the actor revealed the serendipitous events that led him to his life partner.

Dulquer recalled their school days, where he and Amaal attended the same school but remained mere acquaintances. It wasn't until years later that the actor began to develop feelings for her. He was under pressure from his parents to get married before embarking on his acting career. And Dulquer admitted that the idea of an arranged marriage felt odd to him, as he lacked the ability to "reject" someone.

Fortune intervened when he accidentally kept running into Amaal during his time in Chennai. "For some weird reason, I kept seeing my wife Amaal in Chennai. For two weeks, I kept bumping into her," Dulquer told with Bollywood Bubble. 

"Random places like at the movies, or at the salon, and I was like maybe this is a sign. So I reached out to her on Facebook or something," he added. 

Taking a leap of faith, Dulquer and Amaal decided to meet officially for a coffee. The actor confessed to discussing this potential alliance with his parents, seeking their blessing to explore the connection further. "I (told them) look, there’s this girl from my school. I think that’s a possible alliance, but I want to first meet her and see if there’s something there. I told her also to tell your parents. We’ll officially meet for a coffee. There’s nothing there. We’ll just be schoolmates who met for a cup of coffee," he said.

However, the couple hit it off instantly during their meeting. With their parents' support and approval, Dulquer and Amaal took the plunge, and they tied the knot in a private ceremony in December 2011.

He made his acting debut with Second Show the following year after his marriage, marking the beginning of a successful career. Since then, Dulquer Salmaan has become a versatile and bankable talent, not only in the Malayalam film industry but also in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi cinema. Dulquer and Amaal also have a daughter named Maryam Ameerah Salmaan.

Dulquer is now waiting for the release of King of Kotha , which is due in cinemas on August 24.
