King of Kotha starring Dulquer Salmaan, is preparing for its release on OTT platforms after its theatrical run. Although the film did not achieve the expected success in the box office, it received a decent response and collection. King of Kotha is more of a family-oriented entertainer than a mass film that might appeal to viewers in digital space. King of Kotha will be available to stream on Disney+Hotstar from September 29. Here are four reasons why we think King of Kotha might be your cup of tea.
Dulquer Salmaan's action role after a hiatus
Although Dulquer made his debut in the action-packed gangster drama, Second Show, he took a break from such roles afterward. While we saw a brief glimpse of his action avatar in Solo, it was not consistent throughout the film. However, in King of Kotha, Dulquer portrays the character of Raju Madrasi - a fearsome gangster in the town of Kotha who is seeking to settle some debts after losing his power. Dulquer effortlessly aced the character with his amazing swagger and action sequences.
The emotionally connected script
The movie King of Kotha goes beyond just a commercial film and explores the intricacies of human relationships and the emotions that come with them. The character of Raju stands up against his own father to support his friend, Kannan, highlighting the importance of their friendship in the story. The romantic plot between Aishwarya Lekshmi and Dulquer also weaves seamlessly into the narrative.
Performances of actors
This film features an ensemble star cast, including Chemban Vinod Jose, Nyla Usha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Shammi Thilakan, and Gokul Suresh. Shammi, who played Dulquer's father, gave an impressive performance as a retired gangster. Chemban expertly portrayed a comedic villain in the movie, delivering black humor with ease. Nyla Usha and Aishwarya Lekshmi's characters were well-written and the actors did an excellent job bringing them to life on screen.
The background score and songs
The film's background score enhances the introduction scenes of the actors, particularly Dulquer. Jakes Bejoy's rap song, Kotha Raju, is one of his best works, and the refreshing lyrics by Muhsin Parari are noteworthy. The movie also includes a lively dance number and a romantic track that blends perfectly with the mood and visuals.
