It looks like the promotions for Dulquer Salmaan's King of Kotha have begun in full swing. Today, Dulquer dropped the character poster video and announced the first glimpse teaser will be out on June 28 at 6pm. Taking to his social media handle, Dulquer wrote, "Introducing the People of Kotha! Brace yourself for a first glimpse of Teaser into the realm of #KingofKotha releasing on June 28 at 6 pm (sic)."
The star cast for the film includes Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prasanna, Chemban Vinod Jose, Gokul Suresh, Nyla Usha, Shabeer Kallarakkal, Sudhi Koppa and Shammi Thilakan. In a power-paced intro video with some pulsating music in the background, the characters were introduced in their retro avatars.
While Shabeer will play Kannan, Prasanna will be seen as Shahul Hassan, Aishwarya as Tara, Nyla Usha as Manju, Chemban Jose Vinoth as Ranjith, Gokul Suresh as Tony, Shammil Thilakan as Ravi, Shanthi Krishna as Malathi, Saran as Jinu, Anikha Surendran as Rithu.
In an earlier interview with OTTplay, the film's writer Abhilash N Chandran had said, “It’s a period film. It will have portions in the 1980s as well as the 1990s. Dulquer will be seen in multiple get-ups in the movie.”
Abhilash Joshiy had told OTTplay that King of Kotha is not a typical mass film. He said, "It’s a gangster film based on the events that happen in a town called Kotha. It has equal importance to emotions, romance and songs as much as action."
The film will mark the directorial debut of veteran filmmaker Joshiy’s son Abhilash Joshiy. The period film has been extensively shot in Karaikudi, Rameshwaram, Madurai, Kochi and Manali.
King of Kotha is bankrolled by Dulquer’s Wayfarer Films and is said to be made on a massive budget. The gangster flick is also said to be one of the most-awaited projects of Dulquer Salmaan, who was not long ago seen in yet another period flick, Kurup.
