There can never be a film franchise that will compete with Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill because what he created with Uma Thurman in the lead is magic that cannot be recreated. In the movie where Thurman plays an assassin who is called The Bride and can take down an entire village while standing strong by the end. While her performance, the movie, and everything that came with it on the big screen was hailed and celebrated, the behind-the-scenes drama is also a different movie altogether. Did you know that Uma Thurman met with an accident so serious on the sets of the film that she had to be admitted to the hospital for a while? Not only that but what followed led to her bond with Tarantino being broken for years.

The Kill Bill Accident

For the uninitiated, it was the last leg of shooting for Kill Bill when Uma Thurman, the lead of the film, was severely injured on the sets which led to her neck and knees being hurt and damaged forever. The scene which was being shot was where Thurman is seen driving a car down a windy road in a convertible. It is said that Uma Thurman was suggesting a stunt person do the scene but Quentin Tarantino was stubborn that she should do it herself. After a lot of discussion, Uma obliged but the stunt took a turn for the worse and Thurman lost control of the car.

"Quentin came in my trailer and didn’t like to hear no, like any director. He was furious because I’d cost them a lot of time. But I was scared. He said: 'I promise you the car is fine. It’s a straight piece of road. I felt this searing pain and thought, 'Oh my God, I’m never going to walk again,'" Thurman said as per Collider.

Uma Thurman & Quentin Tarantino’s Strained Relationship

When Uma Thurman was back on set after her time in the hospital, she asked for the footage of the accident to sue the producers. But the producers did not let her access the footage and neither did Quentin Tarantino. This led to Thurman feeling ditched by her friend and she was on no talking terms with Quentin for years. However, most recently when she was asked whether she would work with Tarantino again, she said yes.
