Director Ra Venkat's critically acclaimed film, which has bagged a number of awards at the film festival circuit, is all set for its trailer launch. The trailer of the award-winning film will be out tomorrow (October 23).
What's Kida about?
Set in the backdrop of Deepavali, the plot of Kida revolves around a grandfather, who wants to fulfill his grandson's desire at any cost. However, his only option is to sell the little boy's favourite pet, the family goat. Will the elderly man be able to fulfull his grandson's wish without selling the goat? The film will be deeply rooted in the celebration of the festival of lights in rural Tamil Nadu.
The star cast includes Poo Ramu, Kaali Venkat to name a few. The film is bankrolled by Tollywood producer 'Sravanthi' Ravi Kishore, marking his foray into Tamil cinema. The latest we hear is that the film will be released with the title Deepavali in Telugu and that it will hit screens on November 11.
Kida gets standing ovation
The poignant tale received a standing ovation at the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2022. The Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur's Office Twitter handle had then shared the same on its social media handle, "Kida," a tamil film made by renowned senior telugu producer "Sravanthi" Ravikishore got standing ovation at #IFFI53 (sic)." The film was officially selected for screening at the Indian Panorama section, along with Kamalakannan Subramanian's Kurangu Pedal, and TJ Gnanavel's Jai Bhim.
Kida bags numerous awards
Ra Venkat's Kida also went on receive recognition at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne and the Jagran Film Festival. The film also bagged the awards for the Best Feature Film and Best Actor at the 20th Chennai International Film Festival, 2022. After the completion of the film festival rounds, Kida is finally gearing up for release. While the film's release is slated for November, the makers are yet to announce the OTT partner.
