A few days ago, the buzz among Kiccha Sudeep fans was about the promotional activities the team of his next, Max, had planned in the week of its theatrical release. Kicking it off would be the trailer, with December 18 said to be the date, followed by a pre-release event on December 22 and the actual release on December 25. There was no official confirmation about this at the time, but it seemed a plausible timeline.
Soon enough, the pre-release event was confirmed, with team Max set to head to Chitradurga on Sunday. There was no sign of the trailer and since the team remained silent, it was assumed that they would, perhaps, skip this step, as the film’s subject revolves around events taking place in one night at one location and they had already revealed the basic gist in the teaser.
However, turns out, the trailer is till on the way, it’s just coming later than anticipated. Earlier today, it was announced that the trailer would be released on December 22 at 11.08 am, making it well and truly a ‘Max’imum day.
Max has been directed by Vijay Kartikeyaa and was meant to be a late 2023 or early 2024 release, but the floods in Chennai, where the film was being shot, and subsequent delays from the banner, meant that the film was ready only by August 2024. Sudeep was expecting it to release then, or at least closer to his birthday in early September, but for reasons best known to producer Kalaippuli S Thanu, it was pushed to Christmas.
The film’s story unfolds in one night, between 7 pm and 7 am, when the station that Inspector Arjun Mahakshay (Sudeep), is to take charge the next day comes under threat. Fresh off of a suspension, Arjun, aka Max, goes all out to protect what’s his.
