The big update of the week was that Kiccha Sudeep’s much awaited Max has a confirmed OTT release date. While there was no official word from the streamer, it was reported that the Vijay Kartikeyaa directorial Max would be available to stream on Zee5 from February 22 . This news came days after Zee Network dropped a promo for an impending television premiere of the action-packed thriller.
A little while ago, Zee Kannada revealed when Max would be on TV, with a new promo. February 15 (Saturday) 7.30 pm is when Max will be telecast for TV audiences. This new promo then led to speculation that the OTT outing of the film could be advanced, but this is yet to be confirmed by the streamer.
Max, produced by Kalaippuli S Thanu, in asscociation with Sudeep’s Kiccha Creations, is the actor’s first release in over 2 years, and had him in cop role yet again. This time around, he was Max, short for Arjun Mahakshay, the title character, a hot-headed police official, fresh off of a suspension and all set to take charge again.
On the night before, though, an incident occurs at the station that has the city’s most dangerous goons descending upon them and threatening the safety of Arjun’s colleagues. As push comes to shove, Arjun is forced to step up and fight.
The film, which has music by Ajaneesh B Loknath, also stars Ugramm Manju, Sunil, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Samyukta Hornad, Sukrutha Wagle, Ilavarasu, Redin Kingsley, Vamsikrishna, Sharath Lohithashwa, Vijay Chendoor, among others.
The film had a good theatrical run, and is said to have made in the vicinity of Rs 75 crore gross collections, making it the highest grossing Kannada movie of 2024. According to sources, Sudeep’s co-producer status gave him the theatrical earnings, while Thanu would take home the non-theatrical revenue, making it a win-win for both parties.
