Kiccha Sudeep’s magnum opus Vikrant Rona is well and truly going global. On the occasion of writer-director Anup Bhandari’s birthday today, the team gave fans not one but two updates. For starters, there was a promotional tour map, charting out the various updates fans could expect soon, starting with the teaser launch, although with no definitive time frame. This was accompanied by a promise of yet another update. And the team has lived up to that, revealing a little while ago that Vikrant Rona will not only be a pan-Indian release in multiple Indian languages, it will go global with an English version as well, for which Sudeep has just completed dubbing.
Anup shared a video of him furiously typing away on the script and screenplay of the English version of Vikrant Rona, with a quick glimpse from the film, featuring Sudeep as a khaki-clad cop walking into a police station and wondering why every clock there is showing a different time. “Now that I am here, I will set everything right,” he says.
Vikrant Rona is Anup’s first directorial with Sudeep, although the duo has collaborated on the Kannada dubbed version of Dabangg 3, in which the actor played the antagonist. Anup had written the Kannada dialogues and the lyrics of the songs. So far, the only glimpses of the film that they’d made public were in a dark jungle setting, almost as if Sudeep’s Vikrant Rona was in a ‘Temple Run’ or Indiana Jones setting. This teaser for the English version provides a wee bit more clarity on what to expect.
Also starring Anup’s brother Nirup, Neetha Ashok and Jacqueline Fernandez in pivotal roles, Vikrant Rona will release in theatres in 3D. Produced by Manjunath Gowda for Shalini Artss and co-produced by Alankar Pandian of Invenio Films, Vikrant Rona is expected to hit theatres in May/June 2022.
