On Tuesday, the official press meet to announce the 10thseason of Bigg Boss Kannada was going well until one question really got under show host Kiccha Sudeep’s skin. In the course of the event, one of the queries that came for the showrunners was about the criteria in choosing contestants, given that Season 9, as well as its preceding OTT show featured participants who were widely trolled on social media. While no names were brought up, the question and its vague nature irked Sudeep, who decided to tackle it.
“If you know who these people are, name them,” demanded Sudeep and when he did not get a satisfactory response, the actor added, “These people are someone’s children; they maybe someone’s husband or wife. You and I will not know what is happening in their homes. Bigg Boss Kannada is a good platform to clean up their image and prove themselves.” He then urged the media not to bring up such topics, and even though he fielded a bunch of other questions thereafter, Sudeep could not help but return to the subject of ‘controversial’ contestants. “When you say that some contestants should not have been on the show because they were trolled, you have to understand that even when you do something wrong in the eyes of the law and go to jail, you will be set free after a while. Just because some people are trolling someone, if we also decide to be harsh and behave like that, how is it that we have become so inhuman and cruel? And who are we to judge them?” asked Sudeep.
Still not satisfied, the actor added that the reason the ‘controversial’ contestants were not being named is because once spoken aloud, it will be the end of four people in the outside world. “There is no question of good or bad here. There are people; some may be to our liking and some may not be. But who are we to decide if they are good or bad?” he added.
