Debutant director Viveka had pitched the story of what is now #Sanchii01, to another Kannada hero, who, in turn, suggested it would suit Sanchith.

The muhurtha of Kiccha Jr Sanchith Sanjeev’s acting debut, #Sanchii01, was held on January 24. Directed by debutant Viveka, the as-yet-untitled film is being produced by Priya Sudeep’s Supriyanvi Productions and KRG Studios and will go on floors in early February, shortly after the title reveal and first look glimpse on February 5, for Sanchith’s birthday.

The film, according to Viveka, will be set completely in Mysuru, and is a bit of a period drama, as it traverses between 2001 and 2011. Incidentally, the script that has now come to Sanchith, was not meant for him initially. Viveka, who’d written the story along with Nagabhushan Deshpande, had pitched it to Daali Dhananjaya in December 2019. Dhananjaya had liked the basic plot and agreed to work with the team, after which Viveka spent the next year-and-a-half developing the script.
“When the script was eventually ready, I spoke to Dhananjaya again, and he was quite excited, but at some point, all of us felt that the story would be more apt for a new face – someone who’s not been seen onscreen before and has a striking presence. Dhananjaya spoke to Karthik Gowda of KRG Cinemas, who then took it to Sudeep and Sanchith,” explained Viveka at the muhurtha.
Eventually, when Viveka narrated the script to Sanchith, the young actor was also excited about the possibilities of the story and its nitty-gritties. The actor will be paired with Kajal Kunder, who was last seen in Pepe, while Sriimurali and Vijay Raghavendra’s nephew Jai will also have a pivotal role in the film, as also Mayur Patel. Hamsa Prathap, who was, most recently, on Bigg Boss Kannada Season 11, will play Sanchith’s mother in the film.
The team is looking at bringing #Sanchii01, which will have music by Charan Raj, to theatres by the third or fourth quarter of 2025.
