Kiccha Sudeep’s nephew, Sanchith, had announced his directorial debut, which would also mark his first as an actor, Jimmy, in early 2023. The youngster, who’d made baby steps in direction when he collaborated with Gurudutha Ganiga to co-direct Ambi Ning Vayassaytho, had even released a teaser to announce his arrival as director and actor. But since then, there’s been radio silence about the project and there were rumours that it had been shelved, especially after a new acting launchpad was announced for him.

Sanchith, who is set to assume the screen name Sanchii, is the lead of an as-yet-untitled film to be directed by debutant Viveka, which will be produced by Priya Sudeep’s new banner Supriyanvi Productions, in association with KRG Studios. The film will go on floors in early February, following the title launch for the actor’s birthday.

Sanchith: Jimmy will be my 3rd or 4th film

So, what has become of Jimmy? Addressing the speculation around the film at the muhurtha of his new project, Sanchith affirmed that Jimmy has not been shelved; for now, it’s been put on the backburner, but he will return to it shortly. In the process of writing Jimmy, Sanchith realized that the scale of the film had grown manifold.

“Since it was meant to be my first film, I did not want to compromise on anything, so I asked the producers, KP Sreekanth and Lahari Velu, if they’d allow me more time to work on it. They didn’t bat an eyelid and agreed, provided that I make the film at some point in the scale that it requires. Given the duration of the movie, the making would consume a lot of time, and, as the director I would have to be there throughout the process. We have now decided that we will take up Jimmy as my 3rd or 4th film,” said Sanchith.
