Soojit Reno Dutta did the recce for his film Khadaan’s shooting in secret. The director admitted the fact to the media recently. The film features Dev, Jisshu U Sengupta, Idhika Paul, Barkha Bisht, John Bhattacharya, Sneha Bose, and others.
In an interview with Anandabazar Online, Soojit said, “I could not sleep for the initial few days. The days were spent searching for the shooting spots. It also rained.” Four days of shooting have been done. They had indoor shooting, as well as a makeshift set at Nalban.
There are speculations that Kaushik Ganguly and Vidyut Jammwal will be there in the film. In fact, rumours are that Suniel Shetty may join the team instead of Vidyut. In the interview, Soojit said that the production house strictly instructed them not to say anything. But it is rumored that Kaushik Ganguly can play the villain, though all the characters are grey in the film. Vidyut might also play a guest role. Dev is one of the producers and plays the lead in the film. Vidyut is good friends with Rukmini.
The last part of the shooting will be held in Asansol and Vidyut might be there. There is a surprise in the item song also, but the director did not want to divulge anything about it. It was initially heard that the film would be released this year. But a significant part of shooting is due, and hence the film might be released next year. The edits will take a long time. Meanwhile, Tekka, starring Dev and directed by Srijit Mukherji, will be released this Puja. The film starring Dev, directed by Abhijit Sen, and produced by Atanu Roychoudhury, can be released in the winter. There will be two more Bengali films. They are also the reasons for Khadaan's release getting postponed.
The director said, “It is uncertain regarding the film's release this year. It will take time to finish everything well. Hence I requested the producers that it would be good if we could give it some more time considering the film's quality and business.”
