On Monday, Yash's KGF Chapter 2 outperformed Ajay Devgn's Runway 34 and Tiger Shroff's Heropanti 2 despite being in its third week. After surpassing Dangal's record, it is on track to become the second highest-grossing Hindi film of all time.
After a strong start at the box office with 6.50 crore, Tiger Shroff's Heropanti 2 saw a significant drop in its first Monday box office take. According to Bollywood Hungama, the film earned Rs 1.10 crore on Monday, which is 72.5 percent less than Sunday's total which is about 4 crore.
Runway 34, directed by Ajay Devgn and premiered on the same day as Heropanti 2, performed relatively better. According to Bollywood Hungama, it made Rs 2.25 crore on its debut Monday. The film got off to a poor start, with a first-day gross of Rs 3 crore.
Both Runway 34 and Heropanti 2 are up against intense competition in the Hindi belt from Yash's KGF Chapter 2, which is now in its third week and showing no signs of slowing down. The movie made Rs 3.75 crore on Monday, surpassing both Runway 34 and Heropanti 2. The film's total for the Hindi collection today stands at Rs 373.33 crore.
KGF 2 has the potential to surpass Aamir Khan's Dangal's total collection of Rs 387.38 crore. However, topping the lifetime collection of Baahubali: The Conclusion (Rs 510.99 crore) in Hindi seems to be a hurdle.
With Eid holiday on Tuesday, it'll be interesting to watch if both the Hindi releases, Runway 34 and Heropanti 2, will experience slightly better footfall than Monday or if they'll be subjected to the uproar of KGF: Chapter 2 once more.
