The new poster for the highly anticipated historical drama Kesari: Chapter 2 has made it to the Internet before being dropped officially, and it looks like the film will be intense and emotionally charged. The Jallianwala Bagh massacre is one of the most horrific and momentous incidents in Indian history, and the film, directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, is set to premiere in theatres on April 18, 2025. Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan, and Ananya Panday are all playing significant roles in the film, which is generating a lot of excitement due to its powerful images and disturbing story.
The poster showcases Akshay and Madhavan, who both embody intense and serious personas, their intense stares conveying the seriousness of the story. Wearing spectacles, Akshay plays the role of Sir C. Sankaran Nair, the courageous barrister who battled the British Empire to reveal the truth regarding the slaughter. Madhavan, on the other hand, represents the struggle and hardship of the time with his rough appearance, thick beard, and spectacles.
The poster depicts the central figure, Ananya Panday, in a vintage dress, carrying documents, symbolising her role as a resolute and strong advocate for justice. The poster showcases the film's striking depiction of India's fight for independence against the backdrop of the Union Jack flag, which represents the repressive colonial rule, and disturbing images of demonstrations, bloodshed, and mental anguish.
Based on Raghu and Pushpa Palat's The Case That Shook the Empire, Kesari: Chapter 2 follows their story. British forces under the command of General Reginald Dyer opened fire on a peaceful assembly on April 13, 1919, at Jallianwala Bagh, killing hundreds of unarmed civilians. The video focuses on the events that followed this atrocity. The event marked a watershed moment in India's fight for independence.
Sir C. Sankaran Nair, played by Akshay, was an activist and lawyer who challenged the British Raj in court to get victims' rights recognised. Rumour has it that Ananya will play a brave journalist or social reformer who backed the cause, while Madhavan will play a revolutionary.
Adar Poonawalla, Hiroo Yash Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Aruna Bhatia, and Amritpal Singh Bindra are among the producers of the film, which is being put together by Dharma Productions, Cape of Good Films, and Leo Media Collective. The unusual sensory storytelling approach in the teaser for Kesari: Chapter 2 has already attracted enormous attention. The teaser relies exclusively on sound effects to provide an immersive experience without graphics.
Kesari: Chapter 2 will shed light on a crucial chapter in India's war for independence and is promised to offer an enthralling blend of historical drama, judicial battles, and emotional pain. Its release date is set for April 18, 2025. Many are excited for this moving film memorialising the Jallianwala Bagh martyrs.
