Season 1 of Kerala Crime Files, the first Malayalam original web series of JioHotstar, impressed audiences with its taut plot and performances. Fans have been eagerly waiting for an update about season 2 of the series, which starred Aju Varghese in a pivotal role. Now, in an exciting update, the makers have shared that the teaser of Kerala Crime Files Season 2 will debut in theatres, the first-ever Malayalam web series to achieve the feat. Here is everything we know about the upcoming season.

Ahammed Khabeer, the director of the Kerala Crime Files series, took to Instagram on Friday to announce that the teaser of Season 2 has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification to be screened in theatres. It has been certified UA. The 1-minute-10-second exclusive teaser cut will be played in theatres across Kerala. He further said that Kerala Crime Files is the first-ever Malayalam web series to debut its teaser in theatres. 

Kerala Crime Files Season 2 soon?

Though series director Ahammed Khabeer did not give any update on when Season 2 will premiere on JioHotstar, fans hope that an official announcement would follow soon. 

The makers had completed shooting last year. The cast of the new season 2 is also yet to be announced, but Aju Varghese is likely to return for Kerala Crime Files 2. Arjun Radhakrishnan and Sanju Sanichen are also reportedly part of Season 2.

The first season, a crime drama, followed a team of policemen as they investigated a sex worker's murder. The six-episode series had Lal and Aju Varghese in the roles of a circle inspector and sub-inspector, respectively.

Masterpeace, starring Nithya Menen and Sharaf U Dheen, and Nagendran’s Honeymoons with Suraj Venjaramoodu are also streaming on the platform. The latest Malayalam series to premiere on the platform is Love Under Construction, starring Neeraj Madhav, who recently won the Best Actor in a Comedy Award at the OTTplay Awards 2025.
