Kollywood actress Keerthi Pandian's film Kannagi has a new release date. The film, written and directed by Yashwanth Kishore, is all set to be released in theatres on December 15. The Anbirkiniyal actress took to her social media pages to share the news of the release date, along with a new poster from the film.

Sharing the release date and new poster, Keerthi wrote, “Finally!! Looking forward to meeting you all in theatres from 15th December 2023. This film has taken a lot from me, not just as an actor and I am super excited it’s coming to you. Step into a world where every emotion comes alive with #Kannagi. #KannagiFromDec15 (sic)."
The poster features a pregnant woman's belly with an impression of a child’s feet. One can tell from the poster that the film is an intense emotional drama. According to Yashwanth, Kannagi deals with what women go through in today’s world. He said that the film will be "relatable to a mother or a daughter in our society." The film's creators have not yet provided more information about the plot.

Apart from Keerthi, the film also stars Ammu Abhirami, Vidya Pradeep, Shalini Zoya, and Vetri. The film is backed by M Ganesh and J Danush under the E5 Entertainment and Skymoon Entertainment banners. The technical crew consists of cinematographer Ramji, music composer Shaan Rahman, and editor K Sarath Kumar. Shakthi Film Factory is in charge of handling the film's distribution.
Yashwanth Kishore: The film is from a female perspective
In an interview, Yashwanth said that he does not have any references for the film since the story is personal to him. "It goes in depth into emotions. In our films, almost all songs or scenes glorify me. But in my film, I want to show things from a female perspective. Because of this, writing the film was an enjoyable process."
