Tharun Bhascker is a rare new-gen filmmaker to have acquired fans across the globe, despite having directed only a handful of films. While Tharun made his directorial debut with the award-winning rom-com Pelli Choopulu, he followed it up with the much-loved coming-of-age saga Ee Nagaraniki Emaindhi and also helmed a short for Netflix’s anthology Pitta Kathalu.

After a brief sabbatical, during which he acted in several popular films, Tharun wielded the megaphone for the crime comedy Keedaa Cola. His friends K Vivek Sudhanshu, Saikrishna Gadwal, Srinivas Kaushik Nanduri, Sripad Nandiraj and Upendra Varma came together to produce it under VG Sainma. Besides Tharun, Chaitanya Rao, Rag Mayur, Brahmanandam, Rag Mayur and Raghu Ram played key roles in it.

The film proved to be a profitable venture for the makers and performed exceedingly well in the US, though a few critics believed it was too ‘niche’. While Keedaa Cola hit screens globally on November 3, the crime caper is coming to OTT soon. Leading streaming platform aha has bagged its post-theatrical digital rights and will premiere the film on December 29.

For aha Gold subscribers, the film would be available for streaming a day earlier, i.e., December 28. Confirming the news, the streamer wrote, “Daridraniki deggara ga…Paisal ki dhooramga..Mazak la brathukuthunna konni jeevithalanu sudadaniki ready ga undandi…#KeedaaCola, a pakka laugh riot. Premieres Dec 29. 24 hours early access to aha Gold subscribers.”

The story takes off when Vastu (Chaitanya Rao) is sued by his company for damaging office property. When he and his lawyer friend, Lacham (Rag Mayur), spot a cockroach in a soft drink, they plan to extort money from them. However, their plans go awry when Lancham is kidnapped by Jeevan (Jeevan Kumar) and his brother Bhakta Naidu (Tharun Bhacker). Who has the last laugh? Watch the film to learn more.
