Vikram Chatterjee has no time to r espite. After his stellar performance in Atanu Ghosh’s Shesh Pata, the actor impressed the audience with Aritra Sen’s Shohorer Ushnotomo Dine, in which he paired up with Solanki Roy. He has also started working with Shibpur-director Arindam Bhattacharya's upcoming, Durgapur Junction, with Swastika Mukherjee.
Now, director Shieladitya Moulik has started a new film with Vikram and Madhumita Sarcar . Billed as a romantic film, Ke Prothom Kache Esechi also features Darshana Banik in an important role.
The shooting took place in Arunachal Pradesh. Did the shooting team hear about anything on Manipur there? In an interview with Ei Samay, Shieladitya replied, “Manipur and Arunachal are far away from each other. We heard nothing. It is a peaceful area. I will try to portray some glimpses of the tribal area. People here cultivate vegetables and fish and eat them. They live in a tranquil state.” Vikram said, “I cannot compare anything with the natural beauty of Arunachal during monsoon. This scenic beauty added a new dimension to the film’s scenes. Madhumita also said, “This is my first time in Arunachal. This is like therapy to me.”
After the reign of Abir Chatterjee, Jisshu U Sengupta, and Parambrata Chatterjee, Vikram is emerging as the new hero of Gen Z. New-gen actors like him are seen more in romantic films. Shieladitya said, “There is a fresh charm in them. The audience can guess what the big stars will do on the screen, but they can not do so for a new face. Hence they get more involved with the story.”
Does the success of Sohorer Ushnotomo Dine give confidence to Vikram? “I do not know about confidence, but it feels good to see my film going on for six weeks. It was houseful last week. This is the first time in my life. However, after spending thirteen years I understood that the success and failure of a film can not be the parameter of everything,” he said.
