Amitabh Bachchan will host a special edition of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 on New Year's Eve, which will air on Sony Entertainment Television. The legendary and acclaimed singers Shankar Mahadevan and Gurdas Maan will present an unforgettable evening of soulful music to audiences. Light-hearted anecdotes and memories of the duo's long careers will complement their soulful performances, creating an evening that is the ideal combination of inspiration, entertainment, and joy.

Shankar Mahadevan's anecdote about Gurdas Maan and Jugni

The anecdote of Shankar Mahadevan, who recalled Gurdas Maan's gorgeous performance of the song Jugni from the film Veer-Zaara, is one such example. The veteran Punjabi singer shared that when Yash Chopra requested that he sing a few lines for Veer-Zaara—a film with ties to Punjab—he gladly obliged. The late filmmaker then asked Maan if he believed they could fit a line in this space. Chopra requested permission to play the song. As soon as he started playing it, Maan said, "Play it again." Rehearsing it brought the lines from Jugni to life.

Chopra called him later and told Maan that they needed one more song. Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini are doing a Lohri performance. The filmmaker casually asked, "Who else can sing it?" Maan responded, "Why are you teasing me?" This song isn't a suitable fit for his voice. In response, Chopra revealed that even Amitabh Bachchan had expressed his opinion that Gurdas Maan should sing this song. It was an immense privilege for the singer, and it moved his heart when Big B said that. Chopra's level of respect was so profound that it stunned him.

Amitabh Bachchan's reflection on artists and their unique influence

Bachchan responded by stating that specific artists often influence the creation of certain songs. Even though a certain voice doesn't always seem to fit, there are some songs that capture the spirit and essence of the performer perfectly.

Shankar Mahadevan and Gurdas Maan will be joining Amitabh Bachchan for an unforgettable evening of storytelling about their remarkable careers and life experiences. Be sure to tune in to Kaun Banega Crorepati 16, also available on SonyLIV (OTTplay Premium).
