Cinephiles were surprised when Arulnithi revealed his never-before-seen look for a project to be helmed by SY Gowthama Raj a few months ago. The rural drama bankrolled by S Ambeth Kumar was later titled as Kazhuvethi Moorkkan. The project hit screens on May 26, and opened to mixed response among moviegoers and critics.
Dushara Vijayan plays the female lead in the film which has Santhosh Pratap, Munishkanth, Sharath Lohitashwa and Rajasimman among others essaying pivotal roles in it. D Imman has composed music for the movie which has Yugabharathi penning lyrics for songs.
The story of Kazhuvethi Moorkkan revolves around a village where people are divided in the name of caste. Though there are a few good souls who ensure the unity of people despite narrow-mindedness and prejudiced behaviour ruling the roost, a politician and a few cops are hell-bent on creating unrest in the society.
The film marks Arulnithi's second outing this year; the actor had three releases in 2022. Sridhar and Nagooran have handled cinematography and editing respectively for the project which has Mahendra helming art direction. Ganesh has choreographed action scenes while Dina has composed dance sequences.
Kazhuvethi Moorkkan is now gearing up for its OTT premiere. The rural drama will drop on Amazon Prime Video on June 23. The digital platform has announced the same. Arulnithi was last seen in Thiruvin Kural which was released in theatres a couple of months ago.
His next is Demonte Colony 2, the much-awaited sequel to be helmed by Ajay Gnanamuthu. The second part of the successful horror flick is riding on good expectations.
