Katrina Kaif opens up about working dynamics with 'morning person' Akshay Kumar and 'late arrival' of Salman Khan

Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar are two of the actors with whom Katrina Kaif has shared the most screen space. The actor tasted the first commercial success in Bollywood with Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya (2005) opposite Salman, and since then, they have worked together in movies, namely Partner (2007), Hello (2008), Yuvvraaj (2008), Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), Bharat (2019), and the latest being Tiger 3 (2023). On the other hand, Katrina and Akshay worked together in films such as Humko Deewana Kar Gaye (2006), Namastey London (2007), Welcome (2007), Singh is Kinng (2008), Blue (2009), De Dana Dhan (2009), Tees Maar Khan (2010), and Sooryavanshi (2021).

During an interaction with Mid Day, Katrina spoke at length about the difference between Salman and Akshay as co-stars. Talking about Akshay, the actor stated that six of the seven films they starred in together have become commercial successes. In her opinion, that is very remarkable, and their collaboration is characterised by exceptional harmony.

While talking about how Akshay is a morning person and Salman is exactly the opposite, Katrina went on to share that it is a significant aspect of life—how they choose to spend their time, whether it's during the day or night. "Akshay, please don't get up at six in the morning; get a late call time" will be a common discussion starter for them because he is a morning person.

On Akshay as an actor on the sets, Katrina narrated how many times he has to wing it. On set, he brings his vision of the scene that they discuss, and he'll observe her work. After discussing the scene, they will proceed to experiment with it.

About Salman, Katrina revealed that she has to request that he not be tardy and say, "Just thoda jaldi aana."

Salman Khan's unique approach

While praising Salman as an actor, she stated that both Akshay and he couldn't be more dissimilar; it's clear that they are both extraordinary artists. She added that everyone knows Salman to be an incredibly open and honest person; therefore, it's no surprise that he goes through phases when working as an actor. However, he gives a lot of thought and considers things from the story's point of view. In most cases, he will remember the story's progression as well as the character's or film's journey. 

Katrina also said that, additionally, he pays close attention to how the tale is progressing overall. Building a rapport with someone on set has been a longstanding practice. Katrina and he have worked together, intermittently, for about 18 years. It is crucial for them to ensure that any films they work on together are exceptional, as they are familiar with that individual. As performers, that matters to them all.
