Zee5 on Monday has announced the digital premiere of the latest Tamil movie Kathar Basha Endra Muthuramalingam. Starring Arya in the lead role, the film is written and directed by M. Muthaiya. Sticking to his usual template, the director has set the drama against the rural backdrop. However, instead of making the conflict between classes or castes, this film examines the brewing tensions between two religions.

Kathar Basha Endra Muthuramalingam, which means Kathar Basha alias Muthuramalingam, will make its digital debut on Zee5 on July 7.

Judging from the title, the movie talks about the timely issue of the growing distrust and division between people of different faiths. And Kathar Basha Endra Muthuramalingam, played by Arya, uses his fighting skills and machete, to bring about peace and unity to the village, along with loads of social messages.

"Kathar Basha Endra Muthuramalingam is an emotional tale that explores love, sacrifice, and the power of resilience. There is a relentless need to change the religious dynamic that the audience is used to consuming. Keeping this in mind, we have worked hard to create a film that will break the socio-religious codes while engaging my viewers with some action-packed entertainment and drama. I’m grateful that I got to work with a set of talented cast and crew who helped make this film a success on the big screen, and I look forward to the response that the film will receive in the digital space as well," said director Muthaiya.

Arya is also excited about the film getting a wider reach through its digital release. "Essaying the role of Kathar has been a transformative experience of my life. I am grateful for having the opportunity of working alongside an experienced team of artists. I wish everyone watches our film and seeks inspiration from Kathar's unwavering spirit and his quest for justice," he said.

Besides Arya, the film also stars Siddhi Idnani, Prabhu, K. Bhagyaraj, Master Mahendran, B. S. Avinash, Aadukalam Naren, Madhusudhan Rao and Renuka.
