Kathanar – The Wild Sorcerer update- Anushka Shetty joins the Jayasurya-starrer’s set

The makers of Kathanar – The Wild Sorcerer have revealed that its female lead Anushka Shetty has joined the sets of the film. A photo of the actress being welcomed by the director Rojin Thomas and producer Gokulam Gopalan has been posted online.

During an interview with OTTplay, the director discussed bringing her on board for the film. He said that if one looks at Anushka's filmography, it is clear that she has been extremely picky about the films she has made. She was listening to about four or five stories a day, even when we went to tell it to her. She stated that the content's strength is of utmost importance to her.

Rojin claimed that she spent two days listening to the full story, not just her portion. She promised them that she would consent to be a part of the story if it haunted her for a few days.

Teaser of Kathanar – The Wild Sorcerer out last year

On the eve of lead actor Jayasurya's birthday, the teaser for the fantasy horror film was unveiled. The director of the movie is Rojin Thomas, who also helmed the National Award-winning movie, Home. Kathanar, which also features Makal-fame Devika Sanjay, is based on priest Kadamattathu Kathanar, who existed in Kerala and was well-known for having paranormal skills.

In the teaser, Jayasurya is depicted as a prisoner being held captive by church officials who fear his abilities. It also depicts villagers going through unidentified hardships. The clip, dubbed a glimpse into the film by the makers, concludes with Jayasurya's character, Kathanar, dressed as a priest. The background music and visual effects heighten the ominous atmosphere.

Jayasurya’s highly anticipated project in 2024

The movie is a pan-Indian production from Kerala that is scheduled for release in seven languages across the world. Being the first Indian film to employ virtual production technology, Kathanar garnered significant attention.

The project was initiated by Vijay Babu's Friday Films, but Sree Gokulam Movies eventually took over the film's production. Kathanar- The Wild Sorcerer is expected to release in 2024.
