Raj B Shetty is presenting the Kannada film Roopanthara in theatres on July 26. Raj is the actor and co-writer of the film, which marks the directorial debut of Mithilesh Edavalath and has been produced by Suhan Prasad, who made Ondu Motteya Kathe earlier. It’s as good as a home production for Raj. Raj is leading the promotions of the film, as the most saleable name on the team, but this time, though, he is making careful steps, instead of the media blitzkrieg that he did for Toby, which, eventually, did not pan out the way he’d hoped.

Raj has shown the film to a handful of friends and supporters within the industry, who are now taking to social media to express their views on the film. Days ago, it was filmmaker Hemanth M Rao who’d written about Roopanthara being a beautiful film and that Bharath GB is an to look out for. It is now the turn of Jigarthanda maker Karthik Subbaraj.

Fascinated by writing of Roopanthara: Karthik Subbaraj

In a specially recorded video message, Karthik said that he was “mindblown” by Mithilesh’s film, a hyper-linked narrative with 4 stories. “The way the film’s been written and the actors have performed, gave me a thoroughly intense viewing experience, which kept me intrigued right from the first frame,” he said. Karthik specially called out all the actors of the film, and not just Raj, like, for instance, Somashekar Bolegaon and Hanumakka as an elderly couple and Lekha Naidu as a beggar. Most importantly, though, the filmmaker adds that he was fascinated by the way Mithilesh’s film was written.

Although Mithilesh describes the film as having 5 hyper-linked stories, it revolves predominantly around 4 tales narrated by an old vagabond, in the hope that they will in turn help save his life. The film has cinematography by Pravin Shriyan and music by Midhun Mukundan.
