Karthi opens up on Kaithi 2: Here's when the much-awaited sequel to be helmed by Lokesh will go on floors

That Lokesh Kanagaraj is going to direct Vijay in his next movie is known to all. Tentatively titled Thalapathy 67, the movie is expected to go on floors later this year. The former had recently taken to Twitter to inform that he will be staying away from social media for a while. 

Fans of Lokesh are also waiting for the sequels to Karthi-starrer Kaithi and Kamal Haasan-starrer Vikram. An update on Kaithi 2 has now come from the horse's mouth. Karthi, who was promoting his upcoming movie Viruman in Kerala, spilled the beans on the much-awaited sequel.

He said, "We will begin shooting of Kaithi 2 in the next year. It will go on floors after Lokesh wraps up his film with Vijay sir." Karthi also added that he is as clueless as the audience about Rolex and Dilli coming together in the movie. 

Karthi's Viruman, which will be released on Friday, has also been bankrolled by Suriya's 2D Entertainment. The project is the actor's second outing in the pandemic era after Sulthan which was released in 2021. Shankar's daughter Aditi Shankar is making her acting debut with the movie directed by Muthaiya.

Mani Ratnam's much-expected multi-starrer Ponniyin Selvan and PS Mithran's Sardar are upcoming movies of the actor which will be released in theatres later this year. Amazon Prime Video and aha Tamil have bagged OTT rights of the movies respectively.
