Karthi on Sardar: THIS is how OTT giants Netflix and Amazon Prime posed a challenge to the film's makers

Karthi, who has had two releases this year, is awaiting the release of Sardar tomorrow. The movie directed by PS Mithran will be released in Tamil and Telugu. The action thriller, which has the actor essaying dual roles, features Laila, Rajisha Vijayan and Raashi Khanna in key roles.  

At the pre-release event of the movie which was held in Hyderabad, Karthi surprised the crowd when he said that OTT giants Netflix and Amazon Prime posed a huge threat to the film. According to him, the biggest challenge for them was the vast number of spy thrillers available on the popular platforms.

He said, "We had kept this aspect in mind while making the project. Our ambition was to push the bar higher in terms of narration and making. I'm eager to know the feedback from the audience now." He thanked his fans in the Telugu states for their continuous support and hoped that the film will repeat the fate of Kaithi which was also a Deepavali release in 2019.

Karthi thanked Nagarjuna for distributing the movie in Tollywood and said that he is happy and proud for associating again with his big brother. The duo played lead roles in the hit film Thozha (Oopiri in Telugu) which was released in 2016.

According to Karthi, one of the highlights of Sardar will be its production design. The team has travelled across the country for shooting the movie as its story spans a few countries like Pakistan, China and Bangladesh as well. "SR Kathir's art direction, George C William's visuals and GV Prakash's music are the backbone of the movie," he added.

Sardar will have a box office clash with Sivakarthikeyan's Prince which has been directed by Anudeep. Interestingly, both the movies will be released in Tamil and Telugu.
