We had earlier reported that actor Karthi’s upcoming 27th film is titled Meiyazhagan. On Wednesday, the makers announced that the film is all set to hit theatres on September 27. The team also unveiled an interesting poster of the film, further teasing the interest in Meiyazhagan.
Meiyazhagan is Karthi's new film, which has been in the making for a while. With the film's shoot wrapped up recently, the makers announced the release date of the film. It is scheduled to hit theatres on September 27. It is directed by filmmaker Prem Kumar, who previously helmed the critically acclaimed romantic drama 96, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha.
Apart from Karthi, the film also stars Arvind Swamy and Sri Divya. Meiyazhagan makers released a new poster that shows Karthi along with a bull, which is known to participate in Jallikattu.
Meiyazhagan is backed by Karthi's brother, actor Suriya, and his sister-in-law, actor Jyothika, under their home banner, 2D Entertainment. The shooting for Meiyazhagan has been wrapped up. The technical crew consists of cinematographer Mahendiran Jayaraju and Govind Vasantha has scored the music. Govindaraj has edited the film.
Meiyazhagan will have familiar faces galore the cast list. Actors Karunakaran, Rajkiran, Jayaprakash, and Swati Konde are also part of Meiyazhagan. The film was shot in locations in Tamil Nadu, including Karaikudi, Kumbakonam, and other places. It is also to be noted that the film shot in sync sound method and will be the actor's second outing in a similar fashion after Kaatru Veliyidai.
Touted to be a family drama, Meiyazhagan marks Karthi’s first collaboration with Prem Kumar. According to reports, the upcoming film is reportedly about two friends who become arch enemies. Sri Divya is expected to play Karthi's sister.
Meanwhile, Karthi is currently shooting for Sardar 2 with filmmaker PS Mithran. The actor also has Vaa Vaathiyaare with Nalan Kumarasamy and Kaithi sequel with Lokesh Kanagaraj in the pipeline.
