We had earlier reported that actor Karthi and filmmaker Nalan Kumarasamy would be collaborating on a project tentatively titled Karthi 26. The makers on Saturday revealed the title of the film as Vaa Vaathiyaar. This was revealed on the occasion of Karthi’s birthday today; they also shared the first-look poster from teh film. The upcoming project is backed by KE Gnanavelraja under his banner, Studio Green.
Actor Karthi, who is celebrating his birthday today (May 25), announced the title of his upcoming film with Nalam Kumarasamy. It is now called Vaa Vaathiyaar. Backed by KE Gnanavelraja under his banner Studio Green, it marks the first time Nalan will be directing Karthi.
The first-look poster is presented in a quirky fashion. It shows Karthi standing in the centre, dressed in a checkered police uniform, as he sports red-tinted sunglasses. Surrounding him are various lookalikes of the late Tamil legend, MG Ramachandran.
Nalan, who served as a writer in the 2013 film Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru, made his directorial debut with the 2013 black comedy film Soodhu Kavvum. The film saw commercial success and critical acclaim. He has also helmed films like Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum, X, a segment in the anthology Kutty Story and served as a writer in Super Deluxe and Maayavan.
Vaa Vaathiyaar also stars Krithi Shetty, Rajkiran, Sathyaraj, GM Kumar, and others. The technical crew of the upcoming film includes Santhosh Narayanan, who scores the music, with George C Williams cranking the camera. Vetre Krishnan is the editor and DRK Kiran is the art director. A release date for the film is yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, Karthi recently announced the title of his film with filmmaker Prem Kumar. Titled Meiyazhagan, the film also features actors Arvind Swamy, Sri Divya and Rajkiran in prominent roles. The actor also has a few sequels in the line-up, including Kaithi 2 with Lokesh Kanagaraj and Sardar 2 with PS Mithran.
