Her work is varied and includes dramatic dramas like Fiza (2000) and Zubeidaa (2001) as well as masala comedies like Hero No. 1 (1997) and Haseena Maan Jayegi (1999). Karisma Kapoor has been in the film industry for nearly thirty years; can any script surprise her? Absolutely, as it happens. The actor used her new web series Brown as an example and said it knocked her off her feet.
The first Indian series to be selected for the coveted Berlinale Series Market Selects, which begins today, is Abhinay Deo's directorial effort. Kapoor plays Rita Brown, a cop looking into a high-profile murder case in Kolkata, in the neo-noir drama, which is based on the novel City of Death by Abheek Barua. She was intrigued by the tale, but the actor wasn't ready to say yes right away. She was unsure of her ability to carry off the part for this reason.
Karisma told Mid Day that her character is so unpolished, flawed, and human. She loved and admired the character, yet she second-guessed herself. The actor questioned whether this was the best path for her to take. She was persuaded by Abhinay and Zee Studios. Karisma is happy she did it now, and taking on challenges like this is what an actor wants to do.
The kind of work the actor wants to do in the future is shown in Brown. Karisma took an eight-year break after filming Dangerous Ishqq in 2012 before making a comeback with the web series Mentalhood (2020). She claims that both her sabbatical and eventual comeback were entirely her decisions.
The Fiza actor desired time with her children; working on movies and being gone for 100 days was a lot of work. She made the decision to take a break, and she relished that time in my life. Karisma has no regrets. She wants to do other things right now and wanted to take up a challenge with Brown.
Even though she wasn't sure at first, Karisma says her gut told her to take the offer. She cites Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), which earned her a National Award, as an example of how her gut has always guided her career. Due to the requirement that they dance alongside Madhuri Dixit, every actor turned down the part. In contrast, being a fan of Madhuri, Karisma wanted to do this, and she acted impulsively when she did it. The actor has always gone with her gut, and this also applies to Brown.
